Christian County reports 2 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases

Kentucky had 260 news cases combined on Sunday and Monday, and 12 deaths.

The Christian County Health Department on Monday reported the county’s first new cases of COVID-19 in several days.

Two more people have tested positive for the respiratory disease, a health department spokesman said in a news release. That brings the county’s total to 99, which includes 10 people currently ill with the respiratory disease, 86 who have recovered and three who died. 

The last day that Christian County reported new cases was Tuesday, May 12. (The health department did release reports on COVID-19 cases over the weekend.)

The number of confirmed, active cases by age group are:

  • Pediatric (0-21): 1
  • Young Adult-Middle Age (22-59): 8
  • Older Adult (60-84): 1
  • Elderly (85+): 0

The racial breakdown of people who have tested positive for COVID-19 in Christian County is: 77, white; 21, black; and one, Asian.

Kentucky reported 122 newly confirmed cases on Sunday and 138 on Monday, bringing the state’s total to 7,935.

There were three deaths Sunday and nine on Monday, Gov. Andy Beshear reported in his daily briefing. 

As of Monday, 447 people were hospitalized with the coronavirus, and 277 of those were in an intensive-care unit.

Since the start of the pandemic, 2,785 Kentuckians have recovered from COVID-19.
