Christian County High School students take top prizes in Congressional Art Competition

This is the second consecutive year CCHS students earned the first- and second-place awards.

For the second consecutive year, Christian County High School students took the first- and second-place awards in the annual Congressional Art Competition for Kentucky’s 1st District.

Jasmine Larkins earned first place with a drawing titled “Derby Hat,” the office of Congressman James Comer, R-Ky., said in a press release.

Second place went to Addison Piatt for a drawing titled “First Female to Orbit the Moon.”

Larkins’ drawing will hang in the U.S. Capitol, and Piatt’s art will be displayed in Comer’s office in Washington, D.C.

The third-place work — a chalk pastel drawing titled “School Sports One Ball at a Time” by Jesse McClain, of Washington County High School — will be displayed in Comer’s Tompkinsville office.

“Congratulations to Jasmine, Addison, and Jesse on their impressive artwork,” Comer said. “The 2023 Congressional Art Competition included many excellent submissions from Kentucky’s 1st District. I am proud to select these pieces and place them on full display …”

Last year, CCHS students Kaitlyn McKay and Anna Maddux received the top two awards.
