Christian County Health Department reports 80-year-old man is fifth to die from coronavirus complications

Nine new cases of COVID-19 reported Friday, pushing county's total to 471.

A fifth person has died of complications from COVID-19 in Christian County, the local health department reported Friday afternoon. He was 80 years old and had underlying health conditions, according to a news release.

“We would like to send our condolences to family and friends during this difficult time,” County Health Director Kayla Bebout said in the release. 

The county’s first three deaths related to the virus were reported on April 8. The fourth death was reported on June 25.

As of Friday, 471 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the county. There were nine new cases in Friday’s report from the health department. 

The total includes 184 active cases and 283 recovered, in addition to the five deaths. 

The number of confirmed, active cases by age group are:

  • Youth (0-21): 44
  • Young Adult-Middle Age (22-59): 110
  • Older Adult (60-84): 22
  • Elderly (85+): 7

So far this week, the health department has reported 60 new cases of COVID-19.
