Christian County’s coronavirus total increases to 462 with 51 new cases so far this week

Nearly one-fourth of the county's 176 active cases are in the youngest category for people from birth to age 21.

The Christian County Health Department reported 15 more positive tests for COVID-19 on Thursday, pushing the week’s total for new cases to 51 so far.

Since the start of the pandemic in mid-March, 462 coronavirus cases have been confirmed here. The total includes 176 cases that are currently active, 282 recovered and four deaths from coronavirus complications. 

Nearly one-fourth of the active cases are in the youngest category of the health department’s daily report. As of Thursday, 43 people ages 21 and younger had an active case of COVID-19.

The number of confirmed, active cases by age group are:

  • Youth (0-21): 43
  • Young Adult-Middle Age (22-59): 107
  • Older Adult (60-84): 19
  • Elderly (85+): 7

As of Thursday, there were five coronavirus patients being treated at Jennie Stuart Medical Center, hospital spokeswoman Selina Staub said.
