Twelve counties have been selected by the Kentucky Attorney General for a post-general election audit. Attorney General Daniel Cameron randomly selected the counties Monday morning. During the 2022 legislative session, the General Assembly passed a bill that expands the Attorney General’s independent inquiry of potential election irregularities.
As Cameron announced the selected counties, he said there were some complaints regarding the November general election.
“During this election cycle, we received 93 complaints prior to election day, 209 complaints on election day, and 77 additional complaints since the polls closed on November 8th.”
Cameron said these audits do make things tougher on the counties that have been selected.
“Performing these reviews is not an easy task, it takes extra time and creates additional work for county staff, and we appreciate your cooperation with our investigators.”
The audits will be conducted by the AG’s Department of Criminal Investigations. The department and the Attorney General’s Office of Special Prosecutions will present their findings to the grand jury and chief circuit judge of each audited county.
The counties selected are:
Jefferson, Webster, Shelby, Rowan, Oldham, Laurel, LaRue, Owen, Anderson, Christian, Daviess and Breathitt Counties.
