Casey Jones Distillery event to highlight ‘Whiskey Women’

The event on Oct. 14 will include a book signing, blind tasting and blending, and a boubon-infused dinner.

Casey Jones Distillery, 2815 Witty Lane, will host Ring the Belles, an event on Saturday, Oct. 14, highlighting the influence of women in the distilled spirits industry. Several women working in the industry will be on hand to share stories and answer questions, said Peg Hays, president and co-founder of Casey Jones.

A book signing with Karen E. Locke, author of “Bourbon Belles and Whiskey Women,” is free to the public from 4 to 6 p.m. Her book explores the roles of women “throughout the history of whiskey-making.”

A blind tasting and blending event, featuring eight bourbons, will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Participants for this ticketed event will receive a branded infinity flask.

A dinner will follow from 7 to 9 p.m. Caterer Mallory Lawrence, of Hancock’s in Cadiz, is preparing the meal with several dishes from Locke’s book, including Bourbon and Honey Melon Balls and Bourbon Chicken.

Tickets are required for the blind tasting ($50) and the dinner ($75). Hays said guests may use the code BBATCJD to receive a discount through the online purchase
