Bob Lovingood, former school superintendent, dies at 73

A Tennessee Supreme Court justice from Lovingood's home county said he had COVID-19.

Bob Lovingood, who was superintendent of Christian County Public Schools from 2001 to 2008, died Tuesday at age 73.

Lovingood had been the mayor of his small hometown, Vonore, in Monroe County, Tennessee, southeast of Knoxville since 2014, according to his obituary

The funeral home did not list a cause of death. However, Tennessee Supreme Court Justice Sharon Lee, who is also from Monroe County, said in a Twitter post that Lovingood had COVID-19.

“A good man, Dr. Bob Lovingood the Mayor of Vonore, died today from Covid-19. Covid isn’t over, folks. It’s still killing people. Wear a mask, get vaccinated, and follow CDC guides,” the justice tweeted

Lovingood’s funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hopewell Springs Baptist Church in Madisonville, Tennessee.
