Entries are being accepted for the bell hooks Memorial Writing Contest, which is open to children and adults submitting poetry, essays and short stories.
The Christian County Literary Council established the annual writing contest following the death of Hopkinsville native Gloria Jean Watkins, the acclaimed writer known by her pen name, bell hooks.

All entries must use “learning” as the theme. The submission deadline is Dec. 31. Prizes will be awarded in four age groups — 5-8, 9-12, 13-17, and adult.
