Rosalyn R. LaPier

Rosalyn R. LaPier is a professor of history at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is an award winning Indigenous writer, environmental historian and ethnobotanist. She is the author of “Invisible Reality: Storytellers, Storytakers and the Supernatural World of the Blackfeet.” She is an enrolled member of the Blackfeet tribe and Métis.

 

Conservationists and Indigenous people successfully saved the American bison from complete annihilation in the 20th century, increasing their numbers from less than 500 to more than 15,000.
