Joel Best is a professor of sociology and criminal justice at the University of Delaware. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in sociology from the University of California, Berkeley, and a M.A. degree in history from the University of Minnesota. Before arriving at the University of Delaware, he taught at Concordia College, California State University, Fresno and Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
