Auditions set Jan. 13 for children’s theater production of ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’

The play will be presented Jan. 18 at the Alhambra Theatre.

Students in kindergarten through 12th grade are invited to audition on Monday, Jan. 13 at Indian Hills Elementary School for roles in the Missoula Children’s Theatre’s production of “The Emperor’s New Clothes.”

Those auditioning should arrive by 3:45 p.m. and plan to stay until at least 6 p.m. Some cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately after the audition. Rehearsals will continue from 4 to 8:30 p.m. each day that week. The play will be presented at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18 at the Alhambra Theatre. 

The Pennyroyal Arts Council, with support from Flynn Enterprises, provides this theater program for local students. 

Among the roles to be cast are the Emperor, ManyPenny and the Money Council, the Royal Scholars Roxy and Red, Kings and Queens, Gem and the Royal Jewelers, Boots and the Royal Cobblers, Lid and the Royal Hatters, Stitch and the Royal Tailors, and the Royal Silkworms.

Students do not need any advance preparation to audition. 

In addition to the acting parts, assistant directors will be selected to help with rehearsals and for essential backstage responsibilities.
