Recently I stopped by the Alhambra Theatre to see how things were coming together for an event called Artfully Yours: A Resale Affair — a big collection of donated art, jewelry, clothing, accessories, Christmas decorations and home decor going on sale Monday to benefit the Pennyroyal Arts Council.

“It’s interesting how many different things you can do with the stage,” I told arts council executive director Margaret Prim as we walked to the front of the theater.
Normally when I’m looking at the stage I’m seeing musicians or actors who’ve come to entertain us. But Artfully Yours is putting the historic stage and other parts of the downtown theater to a different kind of use. For the next week, the theater will be a place to shop for vintage and gently used merchandise.
You might think of it as the theater working for the theater. The arts council is using the facility that it operates to raise revenue for its mission of supporting the arts in Hopkinsville.
Patrons who want the first look at Artfully Yours can attend the ticketed opening night from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday. Tickets, available online, are $25.
The sale will continue next week, without a fee to enter, during the Alhambra’s regular hours or by appointment.
You’ll find more information on the arts council’s Facebook page.
