Two decades after it was first published, the book “All About Love” by Hopkinsville native bell hooks is No. 10 on the latest New York Times Best Sellers list for paperback nonfiction. “All About Love” explores the definition of love, how it works in a community and its impact on societal divisions. hooks is the pen name of Gloria Watkins.
Born in 1952, hooks has written extensively on feminism, race, gender and culture. She is a distinguished professor at Berea College. Other titles by hooks include “Bone Black: Memories of Girlhood” and “Belonging: A Culture of Place,” both of which deal with life in Kentucky.
