Applicants sought for Leadership West Kentucky

Dec. 5 is the deadline to apply for the six-month program.

The West Kentucky Regional Chamber Alliance is seeking applicants for its fourth Leadership West Kentucky class, which begins in January.

“The Christian County Chamber of Commerce is an instrumental partner in this program and encourages Christian County Leadership Alumni to consider applying,” Taylor Hayes, president and CEO of the local chamber said in a press release

Class members will attend six sessions through June. There is a mandatory overnight orientation June 21 and 22 in Paducah. A graduation in late June will be in Hopkinsville.

“Class members will travel from February through June for one-day sessions in featured areas with a focus on each community as well as regional topics such as transportation, education, economic development, quality of life, advocacy, agriculture, and tourism,” the release states.

The goal of the program is for participants to “return to their communities and companies with increased skills, knowledge, perspective and a new regionwide professional network.”

Applicants need support from their employers and a willingness to pay an $850 tuition fee. A limited number of partial scholarships are available.

Organizers will seek 30 to 35 class members from across 15 counties — Ballard, Caldwell, Calloway, Carlisle, Christian, Crittenden, Fulton, Graves, Hickman, Hopkins, Livingston, Lyon, Marshall, McCracken, and Trigg.

The deadline to apply online is Dec. 5.
