Andrew Goins has submitted his resignation, effective June 30, and Renikka Owens, who is currently principal of Millbrooke Elementary School, will become the interim principal at Hopkinsville Middle School.

“Mrs. Owen is a proven leader who brings a passion for student achievement and a dedication to building strong school communities,” Superintendent Chris Bentzel said in their release. “Her experience at the elementary level and her ability to connect with students, families, and staff make her an excellent fit to lead Hopkinsville Middle School. We are confident she will continue to build on the great work happening at HMS and continue moving the school in the right direction.”

Owen hired as assistant principal at Millbrooke in 2015 and principal in 2020.

District spokeswoman Johnna Brown said Goins will become an assistant principal at Hopkinsville High School after he departs the middle school.

An announcement on the next principal at Millbrooke is anticipated in several days.
