Christian County saw heavy turnout Thursday for the first day of no-excuse early voting.
County Clerk Melinda Humphries said just shy of 3,000 voters went to the polls. There were no problems reported at the three voting centers, and the voters who had to wait in line were patient, she said.
Early voting will continue from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the James E. Bruce Convention Center, the Boys and Girls Club, and the Christian County Senior Citizens Center.
Registers voters may use any voting center regardless of where they reside in the county.
During the heaviest turnout Wednesday, voters waited about one hour at the Bruce Center. The lines were shorter after 2 p.m., said Humphries.
Secretary of State Michael Adams has encouraged Kentuckians to vote early. He said the number of requests for mail-in ballots indicates a big turnout in this election.
The General Election is Tuesday. Thirteen voting centers will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Here’s a guide to voting with information about the ballot and the polling places.
