The band Max Weinberg’s Jukebox will play for this year’s Hoptown Holiday Hopfest at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30, at the Alhambra Theatre.
Weinberg, the band’s leader, is the drummer for Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band and the former bandleader for Conan O’Brien’s television programs.
The Hopfest show will be “an unforgettable, interactive performance where the audience creates the set list in real-time allowing guests to choose from over 200 classic rock songs!” said organizers with the Pennyroyal Arts Council. The four-piece group plays songs from the “glory days” of rock ’n rock, including selections from the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and the E Street Band.
Tickets, available online, were originally $60 but the arts council later announced a flash sale, making tickets half price.
Holiday Hopfest is a fundraiser that benefits the Alhambra through upgrades to the historic downtown theater, which county government owns and the arts council manages. In the past decade, Hopfest has raised approximately $130,000 for the Alhambra.
“This year’s ticket purchases will help fund the much-needed update and replacement of the theatre’s 11-year-old sound equipment, ensuring we continue to deliver exceptional experiences to our patrons,” states the arts council’s press release.
