Micah Mission Center sets day to give free haircuts

Six barbers have agreed to cut hair the morning of Aug. 24 at the South Main Street ministry center.

The Micah Mission Center, a ministry of the United Methodist Church’s Pennyrile District, will provide free haircuts from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 24, at its facility on South Main Street.

Six barbers have agreed to donate their time to cut hair on that day, said Ross Peterson, pastor of Pembroke United Methodist Church and a co-director for Micah Mission.

Large signs in the front windows of Micah Mission read, “Jesus Loves You,” and the idea to provide free haircuts is a reflection of that statement, said Peterson.

The mission will also have free sack lunches for children while the center is open for haircuts.
