Dog Days of Summer at Casey Jones Distillery will support local animal shelter

Several activities are planned at the distillery from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, June 29.

Dog Days of Summer, an event to raise money and awareness for the Christian County Animal Shelter, is planned from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at Casey Jones Distillery, 2815 Witty Lane.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for the community to come together to enjoy a family- and pet-friendly day filled with fun activities and support a great cause,” distillery co-owner Peg Hays said in a press release.

Organizers hope attendees will bring donations for the shelter. These could include dog and cat food, cat litter, pets treats and money.

The distillery has several many activities for the day. Chef Jamie and Heather’s Home Made Ice Cream will have their food trucks on site, and Casey’s Bar will have special drinks for adults, children and pets. A wag-and-grab toy tub will allow every pet attending to take home a toy.

During “Yappy Hours,” from noon to 4 p.m., the distillery will have cocktails for humans and treats for dogs with a portion of sales going to the shelter. Also during this time, Cat Lacy will shoot free photos of pets, and the shelter will provide microchipping ($15) and nail trimming ($15). The shelter will also have adoptable pets at the distillery.

Free, live music by Fortunate Sons will start at 6:30 p.m.
