The Hopkinsville Salvation Army will open its Extreme Weather Event shelter at 7 Halloween night, marking the first shelter night for cold weather this season.
The EWE shelter — located in the soup kitchen at 313 E. Seventh St. — opens any night the wind chill is forecast to be below 20 degrees, the agency announced in a Facebook post. Entrance to the shelter is through the rear door.
Sleeping cots and snacks are made available to anyone needing a place to stay warm overnight.
