Turkey Trot set for 21st annual run-walk in Hopkinsville

The Turkey Trot starts at 8 a.m. Thursday at Founders Square downtown.

The 21st annual Turkey Trot, a 5K run — or walk, depending on the preference of the participant — will start at 8 a.m. Thursday at Founders Square downtown. It’s a free event.

Traditionally attracting hundreds of participants on Thanksgiving morning, the Turkey Trot has the feel of a homecoming celebration. Many of the runners and walkers are out-of-towners who grew up in Hopkinsville and come back for Thanksgiving with family.

Participants who pre-ordered a 2022 Turkey Trot T-shirt may pick them up from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Thomas Street Recreation Center, or at check-in on the morning of the 5K, organizers at Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation said in a press release.

For those who did not pre-order a shirt, a limited number will be available to purchase for $25.
