We’re taking today’s Sunday Brew to share with you some exciting news that we received this week.
Hoptown Chronicle has been selected to receive an additional $4,000 grant from an anonymous foundation as part of the 2022 NewsMatch campaign that is currently underway. The foundation is supporting newsrooms upholding democracy through their coverage of elections, voting rights, and local and statewide government.
This is a goal-based match, which means as long as we raise $4,000 locally, those dollars will be matched twice — once by NewsMatch and once by the partner foundation. So, for every dollar donated, we get an additional $2!
According to the Institute for Nonprofit News, which helps manage NewsMatch, Hoptown Chronicle was one of just 55 newsrooms across the country that was selected to receive these additional matching funds.
We’re so thrilled to receive this recognition for our efforts to provide readers with important information about voting and elections. Since we were founded in 2019, it’s been a priority of ours, and this support will allow us to continue making this important public service accessible at no cost to anyone who cares about Hopkinsville and Christian County.
If you haven’t made the choice to support Hoptown Chronicle in the past, we hope you’ll consider making a contribution now — when you can triple the impact of your donation.
Thank you to our supporters who value independent journalism and democracy. We wouldn’t have been able to do any of this without you.
