Hopkinsville Human Rights Commission seeks award nominations

The deadline for nominations is Sept. 24, and the awards will be presented at the Unity Breakfast on Oct. 27.

The Hopkinsville Human Rights Commission is accepting nominations for several awards that will be announced at the community’s annual Unity Breakfast on Oct. 27 at the James E. Bruce Convention Center. The deadline for nominations is Sept. 24. 

The awards are:

Hal & Bettye Thurmond Award is open to a member, group, or organization in Hopkinsville-Christian County who is making a difference to improve the community through their dedication to human relations.

Mayor’s Unity Award is open to a citizen, group, or organization within the city limits and makes deliberate, conscious efforts to unite people and work together to better our community.

Judge’s Unity Award is open to a citizen, group, or organization within Christian County (outside Hopkinsville city limits) and makes deliberate, conscious efforts to unite people and work together to better our community.

Standard Award for Excellence is open to individuals within Hopkinsville-Christian County for their outstanding service and devotion that goes above and beyond the call of duty in their profession to better our community.  

Volunteer of the Year Award is open to a member, group, or organization in Hopkinsville-Christian County for their outstanding service and going above and beyond to positively impact the agency they serve or the community at large.
