The Jeffers Bend Environmental Center will have a Hummingbird Festival from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, with free admission to the site.
Organizers will present Indian folklore and interesting facts about hummingbirds, and information about hummingbird pollinators and how to make bird feeders.
There will be drawings for bird feeders, and refreshments will be served for a small fee.
Several groups are involved in hosting the event, including the Jeffers Bend Steering Committee, the Pennyrile Resource, Conservation and Development Area, the local Audubon Society, Christian County Master Gardeners and the Hopkinsville Water Environment Authority.
This is Jeffers Bend’s first Hummingbird Festival; the hosts plan to make it an annual event.
The center is located at 1170 Metcalfe Lane on the north side of Hopkinsville. The access road is off North Main Street, next to Riverside Cemetery.
