Tornado recovery group needs volunteer callers

On June 7, the Christian County Long Term Recovery Group will be calling people and businesses impacted by the Dec. 11 and Jan. 1 tornadoes.

Volunteers for the Christian County Long Term Recovery Group will be making phone calls from noon until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, to speak with individuals and businesses impacted by the Dec. 11 tornado outbreak in the county and the New Year’s Day tornado in downtown Hopkinsville.

Anyone who has already filed a FEMA claim related to tornado damage is asked to answer their phones if they see an unknown number on Tuesday.

Those who have not filed a claim are asked to call 270-887-6253 before June 7 to provide their contact information. In addition, information can be provided by using the online survey available on the Christian County Long Term Recovery Group’s Facebook page

The callers will be working from 110 W. Second St. in Hopkinsville.

“Catholic Charities, which is handling case management for Christian County’s long term recovery effort, will provide telephones and a brief training session for volunteers making phone calls,” states a news release from the recovery group.

Little Caesar’s Pizza will provide food and drinks for the callers. Anyone interested in volunteering as a caller should email the recovery group at christiancountyltrg@gmail.com.
