A free, midday jazz concert, featuring classic literary remixes, audience participation and a lunch option from one of Hopkinsville’s most popular street vendors, is on tap for noon Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the Alhambra Theatre.

Pianist Daniel Kelly and singer Frederick Johnson will perform Shakespeare in Jazz with text from the playwright “transformed into fresh and dynamic jazz songs that have audiences singing along in sheer delight.”
The performance is offered through the Pennyroyal Arts Council’s smARTS program.
“Shakespeare in Jazz is an engaging, participatory celebration of Shakespeare’s work, offering an exciting new way to experience his genius,” the arts council describes.
The show is suitable for all ages and appropriate for people just beginning to learn Shakespeare’s plays and for aficionados, too.

Lunch will be available from Vansauwa’s Tacos and Vegan Eats.
