Hopkinsville native selected for UK Hall of Distinguished Alumni

Eugene Poole Jr. is the senior project executive at the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, D.C.

Hopkinsville native Eugene Poole Jr., an architect who has led the design and construction for three U.S. presidential inaugural ceremonies, will be inducted into the University of Kentucky Hall of Distinguished Alumni, according to a UK news release. 

Poole is the senior project executive of the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., and has more than 30 years of experience as an architect. He is one of 27 former UK students who will be inducted Friday during a ceremony in Lexington. 

A graduate of Hopkinsville Community College, he earned his bachelor’s degree in architecture at UK. He is an Air Force veteran. 

“His more recent government projects include the globally iconic U.S. Capitol Dome Restoration project, U.S. Supreme Court, Library of Congress, Senate and House Office Buildings, design/construction for three U.S. Presidential Inaugural ceremonies, the ongoing design/management of the new U.S. Capitol Visitor Center Exhibition Hall Museum …,” the news release states. 

Poole resides in District Heights, Maryland.
