Dates set for Western Kentucky State Fair

The fair will return with a full schedule following last year's cancellation because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Western Kentucky State Fair will be back this summer with a full schedule of events and carnival rides, the fair board said Monday.

It is scheduled for June 25 to July 3 at the fairgrounds off Richard Street. Last year the fair was canceled because of the pandemic.

Fair board president Kent Boyd said in a news release that “social distancing guidelines will be strictly followed at all events.” Some events could be moved outdoors rather than being inside the convention center, he said.

Plans are being made for the fair’s traditional events, including beauty pageants, wrestling, corn hole competition, tractor pulls and the demolition derby. A new event with monster trucks is slated on June 28.
