Fireworks displays planned Saturday and Sunday

Hopkinsville's fireworks show will be Sunday at Ruff Park.

At least two large fireworks displays celebrating the Fourth of July are planned in Christian and Trigg counties this weekend. Both are free events.

Lake Barkley State Resort Park will have its display at 9 p.m. Saturday. It will be visible from the state park beach, the lodge and the marina.

Two food vendors — Dos Margarita and Get Down BBQ — will be serving at the beach, park officials said.

The city of Hopkinsville’s fireworks display, called the Red, White and Oooh!, will begin at 9:15 p.m. Sunday at Ruff Park on North Drive.

Festivities start at 6 p.m. with several food trucks, including Heather’s Homemade Ice Cream, Holiday Burgers, Kona Ice, Vansauwa’s Tacos and Vegan Eats, and Kinfolk Catering, organizers announced.

The first 1,000 children to arrive will get a free dessert provided by Hillcrest Baptist Church. The church and WKDZ/WHVO are sponsors of the Hopkinsville display.

Parking will be available at Hopkinsville Community College, Christian County High School and other locations around North Drive.
