Three downtown street closures will occur next week in preparation for improvements at CSX railroad crossings, city officials announced.

Beginning at 5 a.m. Monday and continuing until the work is completed Tuesday, East Ninth will be closed at the rail crossing between the old depot and Whistle Stop Donuts. Traffic will be detoured to Campbell, Seventh, Clay and Liberty streets. (See map.)
Additional street closures at rail crossings are planned Tuesday and Wednesday on East Fourth and on Wednesday and Thursday on East First.
“The closure is needed to prepare for repairs and improvements to various street crossings along the rail line starting in mid-August,” a city spokeswoman said in a news release.
