Christian County continues to see a slow increase in the number of newly confirmed COVID-19 cases.
As of Monday, there were 83 cases, an increase of one from Saturday, according to reports provided by the Christian County Health Department. There were 40 active cases and 40 recovered, in addition to three deaths that were reported on April 8.
The number of confirmed cases by age group are:
- Pediatric (0-21): 4
- Young Adult-Middle Age (22-59): 50
- Older Adult (60-84): 26
- Elderly (85+): 3
Western State Hospital had 41 cases as of Monday, an increase of one in the past several days, according to information provided by Gov. Andy Beshear.
Thirteen patients and 28 staff members of the psychiatric hospital in Hopkinsville have tested positive for COVID-19, including two people whose deaths were reported on April 8.
Beshear, in response to a question from Hoptown Chronicle, said all of the results are back from testing last week of 124 Western State employees. Six of them tested positive, and they are included in the 28 employees total who have been diagnosed with respiratory disease since the start of the outbreak.
Kentucky had 102 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Monday, the respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus. That brings the state’s total to 3,050.
Six deaths were reported, pushing the total to 154, Beshear said during his daily briefing.
In memory of Kentuckians who have died from COVID-19 complications, a Kentucky State Police honor guard will place wreaths Tuesday at the base of the Abraham Lincoln statue in the Capitol Rotunda, the governor said.
“We’re thinking about these families,” Beshear said.
Since the outbreak began, 1,017 people have been hospitalized in Kentucky, and 263 were in a hospital Monday. Patients who were in an ICU at some point totaled 532, with 147 in an intensive-care unit Monday.
Beshear said 1,144 people in Kentucky have recovered after testing positive for COVID-19.
