In the last seven days, Christian County has reported the second largest number of coronavirus cases since the pandemic began, with 104 cases over the last week. The only time the number has been higher was Aug. 3, when the number was 107.
While growth appeared to slow last week, this week has brought a surge in new cases locally. The Christian County Health Department’s report Thursday of 20 new cases is the fourth day in a row the department has confirmed at least that number of cases.
It brings the number of local coronavirus cases classified as active to an all-time high of 228.
The department also announced the county’s 11th death attributed to COVID-19. It was the third consecutive day the department confirmed a coronavirus-related death.
Growth also continues statewide. One Wednesday, Gov. Andy Beshear announced a record number of new coronavirus cases in a single day, 1,163.
As of Thursday, the number of active COVID-19 cases in Christian County by age group was:
- Youth (0-21): 46
- Young Adult-Middle Age (22-59): 121
- Older Adult (60-84): 55
